I like the singer Carrie Underwood. However, her latest cheater-bashing song is a bit much. In her lyrics, she describes trashing her boyfriend's vehicle after she finds that he's cheating. It made me think: would the damage her heroine's done be considered a felony?
Let's think about it, shall we?
She "dug her keys into the side of his pretty, little souped-up 4-wheel drive" ---- that sounds like an expensive paint job. Let's guess $1,000.
She "carved her name into his leather seats." ----hmm, new leather car upholstery. That can't be cheap. Let's say $800.
She "took a Louisville slugger to both headlights" --- assuming he'd need a new headlight assembly, rough estimates are around $300 for a pair.
She "slashed a hole in all four tires."--- Let's guess $100 per tire or $400.
That's about $2,500 bucks. Pretty much a gross misdemeanor approaching a felony. Not the best idea for revenge, getting yourself arrested and all.
I say that happiness is the best revenge.
