I notice in the Strib this morning that Vikings owner Ziggi Wilf is suggesting that building a new stadium would help jump start our economy. He suggests that one third of the financing should come from him and two thirds would be taxpayer dollars. I say hogwash!
I remember when Governor Ventura took office. Former Vikings owner Red McCombs wanted a new stadium with public financing. Governor Ventura said over his dead body. He reminded people that the highschool he attended (I believe Roosevelt) had been functioning for sixty years but at that time the Metrodome was only 18 years old. What is with these owners of major sports teams? What has happened to our priorities?
I am curious what your opinions are.
unfortunately
unfortunately it is usually this type of welfare (for the rich) that is looked upon most favorably by the public. How could one justify spending any tax dollars on the Vikings at a time when their first play-off game in eight years is struggling to sell out?
Oh well, the government will continue to serve those with enough money to buy influence as long as the government remains subservient to the economy.
