My wife and I went to town for our grocery shopping today and tried to plan ahead. It is an 18 mile trip to town. We shopped at the Cub's store in Baxter. My wife purchased two cookie sheets for the price of one, one of their specials. This was around noon. We just now noticed that we never made it home with them. I called the store around 7:00 p.m. to see if anyone had turned them in. I was amazed that they had been turned in. I don't know if it was a shopper or the employee who takes the carts back to the store, but I was really pleased. It is not the money or the material itself that makes me so happy. It is the fact that someone very honest did a good deed. Every time I become down because of the state of the world, someone comes forth to renew my spirtis. Maybe it is the magic of Christmas at work.
Yes, there are still many good people in the world
That is a small, but significant gesture and it does make you feel good.
At the Echo we have given up our annual holiday party and the money that was set aside for that has gone to food shelves in the area. Not one employee was upset that we gave up the annual party.
So - just remember, making a small gesture means a lot to someone and maybe a great deal to a lot of people.
