Canine foster family - #5 - Only two remain

We found a home for Brownie - the only puppy that wasn't black and looked like their mother. WIthin the next day or so I hear from HART that the two puppies there also found homes.

Canine foster family - #4 The plot thickens

We found a home for Big Boy a couple of days ago.

Then yesterday I got a call from the shelter. The puppies are on the adoption floor,
but Mama didn't pass the temperment test. She started a stress behavior the day before - something she did at our house the first night. She chased her tail in circles while barking, then when she caught it she'd chew it until it was bloody.

At our house I thought maybe there was a tick she was trying to remove or something,

Canine foster family - #3 Moving on

I took Little Bo, Schnauzer Face and Mama to HART. After all the time and thought that went into the decision, I admit I was surprised at how quickly and smoothly the actual procedure was. I filled in a few blanks on a short form. HART staff and I took the 3 dogs to the kennels in the impound area. The puppies went into one kennel and Mama into another. That was it.

Canine foster family - #2 Getting to know you

When the first two puppies arrived, we eventually brought them into the house to see how they would do. We were concerned that our 3 adult dogs might act too aggressively and hurt the newcomers, so we left them outside and introduced them one at a time. What we got was a lesson in canine sociology.

When our most submissive dog, Bridget, came inside, the two puppies ran toward her yapping all the way. Bridget was scared to death! She jumped into a chair, and when they got too close, she flew a couple of steps across the room on her long, lean legs and oneo the couch.
